The AIRE Centre participated in Hibiscus Initiatives’ internal staff training on domestic and gender-based violence as part of the UK FIRST Network. Hibiscus Initiatives is an organisation that works in the voluntary sector with 1,000 clients from over 119 countries, providing welfare, advice, advocacy, volunteering and befriending in prisons, reintegration assistance for people released from Immigration Removal Centres, community resettlement support for ex-offenders, awareness-raising on the risks of being trafficked to the UK and is a first point of contact. Markella Papadouli, Legal Project Manager, Ralitsa Peykova, Legal Project Assistant and Legal Caseworkers working at the AIRE Centre attended and contributed to the trainings by presenting case studies on human trafficking and domestic violence.
