Steven Tyler opens a shelter for battered girls

On December 6 2017, Aerosmith frontman Steven Tyler officially opened Janie’s House, a shelter for abused girls in Atlanta. His charity Janie’s Fund, which is named after Aerosmith’s hit song, “Janie’s Got a Gun,” opened the house in partnership with Youth Villages to help girls who have suffered physical and sexual abuse and neglect. Janie’s House is the first shelter Tyler and the fund have opened since the founding of the organization in 2015.

Mr Tyler said: “This was two years in the making! Spending the day with thee girls… I’m just so proud of them! I’m just relieved they have a safe space to be who they are …to grow into amazing young women who will do great things in the world…#JANIESGOTAFUND.” It is great to see that people invest time, money and effort in creating safe places and a better suport system for victims of violence. We hope to read and hear more stories like this one. Don’t forget – everyone can make a step to end violence!
